What is Cloud DRM?

Cloud DRM is a component of the Cloud Video Kit that protects video content using the built-in Digital Rights Management (DRM) capabilities of Google, Apple, and Microsoft platforms.

This documentation describes the Cloud DRM service provided by Insys Video Technologies. It explains how to use the protection system and integrate it with external systems.

How Cloud DRM works​

To start using the Cloud DRM service, there are two key integration points:

  • Key Management Service (KMS) – Integrates with your video streaming headend (also known as packager or encoder) to encrypt video content using keys obtained from the DRM Cloud service.
  • License Endpoint – Integrates with your video player to securely display content to end users. The player uses this endpoint to acquire cryptographic DRM license data and enforce playback rules.

  • Configure your License Endpoint – This ensures your video player can securely acquire licenses and enforce playback rules.
